Marie Claire Runway Fall Winter 2013 Issue 1

I stop by my local Barnes and Nobles every month, just to browse through their international fashion selection, and this month, this wonderfully bright oversize magazine jumped out at me. At first glance, I thought that it was Elle Collection, being that both publications are of similar size, if not equal. I picked it up to skim through, (I mean come on, who can resist such a bright cover) and I was very surprised to see that the content is almost exactly like the Elle Collections magazine. I do believe that they are also the same price. With interviews with the heavyweight designers and summaries of the hottest trends, it is definitely a must have to add to your magazine collection, especially if you don't have the time or patience to go through a thick magazine like Vogue Paris Collections. You don't get looks from every show, but you do get your money's worth. If just the cover is any any indicator, we can definitely look forward to many more amazing issues of Marie Claire Runway.

Vogue Paris Collections Fall Winter 2013 Issue 14

First of all let me say that am very confused. It is already hard enough remembering that Spring/Summer collections for the following year are shown beginning in September and the Fall/Winter collections in February. And with the release dates of VPC (Vogue Paris Collections) being in December and May, respectively, that just further muddles the fashion calendar in my head. The cherry on top is the fact that on Issue 14 of VPC, the title reads "Autumn-Winter 2012...but if I remember correctly Issue 12 was for the Autumn-Winter collections.

Being that the season listed on the cover was the same as Issue 12, although I routinely checked online for the new release, it wasn't until yesterday that I saw that it was already out. So now that is is officially out, I will be ordering my two copies as soon as possible. Perfect timing, as this will make a perfect university graduation gift! I was not able to keep up with all of the shows this season, due to my hectic school schedule, but once I am finished with finals, I will be spending most of my free time on youtube, with my newest issue of Vogue Paris Collections in hand.

Fashion Renewal

Renewal is a theme that is continuously used in the fashion industry, especially in September. Although spring is typically the season for change, hello spring cleaning, September is the time for breaking out of your fashion ruts and reevaluating yourself both on the inside and out.
I know that it has been a very long time since my last post, and I apologize for what seemed to be yet another blog that someone started and soon neglected. Whoever it was that said that senior year is the easiest needs to have their wardrobe taken away for a week, only being allowed to wear sackcloth. This last semester, this last MONTH before graduation is by far my most challenging, but I will get through. And it is my book publishing class that is getting me through this tough semester.
Long story short, I am taking a book publishing class in which the main project throughout the course is to create a concept for a book idea and to learn the various steps in making the book a reality from the proposal to marketing and advertising. Of course my book is fashion themed; the details I will not go into because although the professor told us that this project could be used to assist in getting a job in publishing or the like, I have so much passion for my book idea that I am in the process now of designing a business idea that revolves it.
I am actually very confident that this idea will be my ticket into the fashion industry; an industry that is known for costing an arm and a leg to break into. However, besides the book idea, I have learned so much that can be applied even here on my blog. I honestly started this blog because I thought that it was the cool, new thing to do; after all, everyone has a blog nowadays. There was no purpose to it, even if no one was reading it, I would feel a certain way just knowing that my opinions were out there for everyone to see.
It took me some time to think about what I wanted the purpose of my blog to be, but once I figured it out, I realized that I was doing it all along, although it was not done in the most successful way. I love fashion magazines, and I when I love something I want everyone to love it, or at least know about it. If you are anything like me, you do not have endless storage space to house every fashion magazine you can get your hands on, but it is so hard to find out which ones are worth buying without actually going out and buying them. I want to be that source who you rely on to give you those crucial details in making the decision to buy or not to buy. I will give you the highlights and the features of those magazines. This renewal might not appear right away, but I swear on the heart of my Marc Jacobs sweater that it will happen.

Vogue Paris Collections Spring Summer 2012 Issue 13 Now Available!

Now that I FINALLY have the issue in hand, I am so pleased to announce that Issue 13 is now available for purchase. I was surprisingly having a very hard time finding this issue, sellers on eBay usually have it as soon as it is released. Well, that was way back in December and that month dragged on before I received an email from the eBay seller I always buy my issues from letting me know that she had the newest ones in stock. And now that my two issues are in hand, I urge you to look on eBay, wherever you may be located, as there are many that are available at or a little below retail. Hopefully, I can get a few scans of the inside using my school's scanner, however I don't really know how they will come out quality wise. But until then, dream of McQueen lovies! I won't be doing much dreaming, I'll be too busy pouring over my copy.

Vogue Paris Collections Spring Summer 2012 Issue 13

If I haven't said it already, I will say it now: December is my favorite month out of the year. Not only is it the holiday season (Hello giant magazine gift wish list!), but this is the month that the 13th issue of Vogue Paris Collections was released. I just went on TFS browsing the different magazine threads, since I didn't know the exact release date, and a thread had already been started. Can I tell you that when I saw that Alexander McQueen was on the cover, my heart stopped beating for a couple of seconds. I adore Alexander McQueen and the legacy he left behind, so who better to honor by giving the cover?
I haven't gotten my own copies as of yet, hopefully they will start appearing on the secondary market, which is where I always get my copies. It might take a couple of days, hopefully not weeks for the distributors to get them out. I am eager to get a look inside. Winter has not even officially begun according to the calendar (and the bizarre NYC weather) but I am already looking forward to the spring after seeing some of the spring collections shown starting in September shows. So run out and reserve your copies, lovies, you won't regret it!

People Style Watch

I know that I have said that Vogue Paris Collections are my favorite magazine, but People Style Watch follows at a VERY close second. Not only does People Style Watch make fashion accessible, but you can get the looks worn by celebrities at a significantly lower price. I absolutely adore celebrity street style and I pour over page after page of photographs taken by paparazzi. I know that most celebrities are given designer items to wear as advertisement a lot of the time, but heck, they sure do a good job mixing designer with "lower" brands, and that in itself is an art.
People magazine has always been one of my favorites. Not only do you get the newest celebrity gossip (who doesn't love a good story), but you also get stories having to do with real people around the country, around the world. That is something that the other gossip magazines don't offer. And the Style Watch section in the back of every issue is what I turn to first, so having an entire magazine dedicated to celebrity style trends is paradise for me. Because People magazine is so inexpensive and frequent, the first issues of Style Watch are so, so hard to find, even harder than finding back issues of Vogue Collections. While I knew that the "official" Style Watch magazine was first published in 2002, I had no more information concerning the first couple of issues. My collection consists of every issue from 2007 until now, except for a few missing issues: February 2007 and June/July 2007. Before 2007 it gets tricky: the issues were not real eased monthly but seasonally. I own now: Fall 2004, Fall 2005, Winter 2005, Spring 2006, Summer 2006, and Fall 2006. As you can see, it is very hard to even know which issues I'm missing pre-2007, as there was no clear pattern. But every story must have a happy ending in my book. Just this week, I've found and purchased the following issues: Spring 2002 (The premiere issue), Fall 2002, and Fall 2004. Hopefully the other missing issues will follow as well. I haven't gotten them yet, but when I do, I will be sure to scan all of the covers of my complete collection.

UPDATE 12/05/11: Today I just purchased more issues from the same seller: Spring 2004, Spring 2005, and February 2007. Now, I only need Spring 2003 and June/July 2007 to complete my collection, but by the looks of things hopefully they won't be that hard to find!

Magazine Addicts Anonymous

So although it's been a month since I've posted, and a while since I was on TFS (The Fashion Spot), I've still indulged in my magazine collecting. No worries, that addiction is not being kicked any time soon. It is just that I have been so busy at school and at work, I actually have two jobs and I will be possibly adding a third. Talk about being overworked, but hey, magazine spending money does not just appear out of nowhere.
In my last post, I mentioned that I had put some of my Vogue Collections issues on ebay. They actually did not sell, as I only had them at a fixed price listing, to guarentee that they would not sell for a low price. Looking back, I did pay a bit too much for some of the issues that I have, so I would rather hold onto them instead of selling them for a lot less than what I paid for them originally.
So I will be popping up every now and then on TFS and here on the blog, just to say hi until the school semester ends. I still have to finish my application for fashion school. Needless to say I will be busy, so hopefully you stay busy too.
